 Good grief. A good Okie can’t go barefooted around these parts anymore!! In all the years I’ve lived in the OKC area, I’ve never seen a poisonous snake on our acreage until last year. Now, we have this creepy pigmy rattler show up at the front door and he was trying to come in without so much as an invitation!! Last year, Mr. Fix-It almost stepped on one, if you will remember. Tonight, he was coming to the door and saw this one trying to slither in. Well, as you can see, the varmint didn’t make it very far. Let that be a lesson to anybody who tries to come in without askin’! 🙂 |

Mary Beth, I think it is the hot weather and lack of rain. My husband was within a couple of feet of stepping on a full grown Copperhead right next to our house tonight as he was going to dump something. He came running back in the house very excitedly. I followed him out, with Crocs on and a flashlight. We get next to the house and he can’t find it. I am like, “Great, Honey! I am out here in Crocs, and we don’t know where the Copperhead is now!” Then, we spotted it, and he beat the crud out of it’s head. The is #2 Full Grown Copperhead almost stepped on in 2 weeks. Our neighbors have also killed some. I personally thinking they are heading towards the lights of the house as night to eat bugs and such. Thank goodness, we both have a Big God watching out for us!

Lacey, that’s a good point about the lights. I bet you are right. Of course, the rattlesnake was trying to come into the house, but there were lights on! And the flower garden has the bugs and lizards. Makes sense. So glad you all weren’t bitten!!!
Yes, but I live in town and we all know that snakes don’t cross the city limits… Also, I don’t have a Mr. Fix It and in Carol’s book of rules, the man has to kill the snake…..
Ahhhh, good point about the man and snakes, however, I was not aware of the rule that snakes don’t cross city limits! When did THAT one get put in place? 🙂
There is a sign at the city limits.. Snakes see the sign and know they have to turn around… LOL
Actually I have had a few of the foot long little garden snakes but I would blow a gasket if I found anything bigger in my yard!
Ahhhh. I’ll look for that next time I’m in the vicinity. May need one down here!!
MB Just put a “no snakes” sign in the front yard and they will know…..
